TigerMountain Foundation builds stronger, healthier communities across the greater Phoenix area, by empowering people through urban gardening, workforce development, and landscaping initiatives. Our multi-ethnic, intergenerational team reflects those communities, working alongside residents to create change from the inside out.

  • TigerMountain Foundation Established

    2007
    Darren Chapman officially founded TigerMountain Foundation, beginning efforts to beautify vacant lots, grow fresh produce for South Phoenix's food-insecure communities, and empower individuals to be successful.
  • Garden of Tomorrow Opens

    2008
    TigerMountain launched its first community garden, the Garden of Tomorrow, marking the beginning of its hands-on approach to food access and community revitalization in South Phoenix.
  • Personal Strategy Roadmap Launched

    2012
    TigerMountain introduced the Personal Strategy Roadmap, an individualized goal-setting framework designed to guide participants from enrollment through to living-wage employment and long-term self-sufficiency.
  • Commercial Kitchen Incubator Opens

    July, 2014
    TigerMountain developed a commercial kitchen to serve as an incubator for food entrepreneurs in South Phoenix, creating a new pathway for economic development and small business growth within the community.
  • Spaces of Opportunity Garden Opens

    2015
    TigerMountain opened Spaces of Opportunity, an incubator farm and community garden built on a vacant lot in the heart of a South Phoenix food desert, expanding fresh produce access to low-income neighborhoods.
  • MAC6 Garden Opens

    December 2021
    TigerMountain launched the MAC6 garden, adding a new community growing site and extending the foundation's reach into additional South Phoenix neighborhoods.
  • Audubon Society Partnership Established

    April 2022
    TigerMountain launched a collaborative initiative with the Audubon Society, integrating environmental stewardship and habitat restoration into its community gardening and agri-landscaping programs.
  • 81 Backyard Gardens Installed for Phoenix Residents

    2023 - 2025
    TigerMountain launched a collaborative initiative with the Audubon Society, integrating environmental stewardship and habitat restoration into its community gardening and agri-landscaping programs.
  • 'Wee Wee Belcher Garden of Tomorrow' Breaks Ground

    March 2026
    TigerMountain broke ground on the Wee Wee Belcher Garden of Tomorrow off Broadway Road in South Phoenix. The new site will feature at least 40 growing beds, two grow houses, and cutting-edge cultivation methods including agrivoltaics and vertical gardens, with full production expected by late spring 2026.
