On October 2, 2014, TigerMountain Foundation (TMF) held our first wine and cheese event. One of our board members generously opened their home, Michael Shelton and his lovely wife Marie.

Founder & CEO Darren Chapman, along with Board Chair Jason Michael Walker spoke about the work that is done by TMF. This work helps so many adults and children gain skills, confidence and the ability to succeed. Some of the youngest TMF participants shared their experiences. They talked about what it is like at TMF and the Garden for Tomorrow. Everyone had a great time and learned more about the impact TigerMountain Foundation is having in the community they serve. TMF intends to continue these events. To get the word out.

Thanks to all those who attended and to those who give their financial support!

Mission Statement

Tigermountain Foundation (TMF) empowers community through our initiatives that include On the Job Development Landscaping and Community Gardens, TMF audio, visual and performance arts, community service and our spirit of volunteering.

Model and Vision

As a change agent for healthy living, TMF envisions a healthy community where all citizens can reach their maximum potential.

TMF through its model of Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) will empower communities to better itself from within to build community. In the communities we effect, there is high recidivism, bad health choices and a low ranking education system with closed schools. The TMF instructional and developmental concept is intergenerational, multi ethnic mentoring.

TMF brings a mosaic of educational opportunities. The 4 educational tenants of TMF are:

  1. Financial Literacy
  2. Micro Business Enterprise
  3. Workforce Development
  4. Behavioral Health/Substance Abuse Education

These tenants address prevalent issues within the core of the effected community.

Values of Tigermountain Foundation: “TIGER”

  • Tenacity: (Aggressively change your own condition)
  • Integrity: (strive for authenticity and honesty in living one’s life)
  • Greatness (Dare to be epic and proud)
  • Empowerment: (Take responsibility for life choices and their outcomes)
  • Resiliency (Never give up)

Tigermountain Foundation is an organization that utilizes ABCD (Asset Based Community Development) to bring sustainability back to the community. ABCD is bringing the assets of a community to benefit the development of the community. TMF builds communities with the concept that if everyone participates and brings their unique gifts to the table, a once dormant field can be converted into a series of beneficial opportunities to that community. The concept is to not only plant fruits and vegetables but also cultivate dreams into reality....read more

Specifics

Tigermountain uses a model of multi ethnic, multi cultural, intergenerational partnerships to create a vast base of assets to bring to the table. The tidalwave of participation leads to opportunity for all. For example: an attorney, nurse, or accountant who wants to become a volunteer for TMF has an opportunity to satisfy their want to do things for the community, while also providing an opportunity to network with likeminded business professionals. Tigermountain brought these assets together by creating community gardens as a meeting place to not only bring nutritious, affordable, accessible foods but to also educate and stimulate the same community.
